Achilles Tendon Rupture

A rupture of the Achilles tendon is a complete tear often occurring during sudden acceleration or jumping. It causes immediate pain and loss of strength.

Anterior Ankle Impingement
    • Sudden sharp pain in the back of the ankle

    • Popping sensation at the time of injury

    • Difficulty walking or pushing off

  • Physical exam with the Thompson test confirms rupture; ultrasound or MRI defines the extent.

  • Treatment may be non-surgical with functional bracing or surgical repair. Minimally invasive repair techniques allow for smaller incisions and faster rehabilitation.

  • Return to sport typically occurs within 6-9 months after surgical repair.
