She understands what my goals are
“I feel very fortunate to have Dr. G as my orthopedic surgeon. She understands who I am and what my goals are, and she did a great job of helping me to understand my options. The decision to undergo a complex surgery with a lengthy recovery is not one I undertook lightly, but her exceptionally strong training and clear commitment to excellence gave me faith that she was the person who could best get me back to doing the things I love. I still have a lot of work ahead of me, but when I next stand on the top of a mountain, it is her art that will be supporting me.”

Exceptional Surgeon!
“Dr Gianakos was the first person who sat down and took the time to listen to all I had been through. Other surgeons brushed me off but she was patient and got to the bottom of my injury. She performed surgery and I was back to work and living my life without pain and able to do the things I used to again. I trust her and I would send any family member to her. Great surgeon but also great person!!”

"Dr. Gianakos is perhaps the most ambitious, passionate, and supportive professional I have interacted with during my Physician Associate training at Yale. Dr. Gianakos hadn't even been officially working at Yale for a week when she first agreed to meet with me to discuss research topics for my PA program thesis, and yet she exuded an energy and excitement in helping me design my thesis that made you believe she had been advising PA students for years.
Her enthusiasm for teaching was apparent from that very first interaction and only became more and more evident over the next year and half of working on research projects with her. It's clear that she possesses a genuine desire to see her students succeed, which only makes them want to work even harder. Her authenticity as a mentor, her technical prowress as an orthopedic provider, and simply her warmth and positivity as a person taken all together are what make her into the incredible role model that she is. My PA education and my experience at Yale at large would not have been as rewarding as it has been if I had not met her! Thank you, Dr. G!"

"My time as a student fellow at Yale New Haven Hospital, under the guidance of Dr. Arianna Gianakos in the Department of Orthopedics, Foot and Ankle, has been incredibly enlightening. I had the opportunity to develop not only my technical and physical skills but also my communication abilities, learning to prioritize the patient and focus on the person as a whole. Dr. Gianakos's leadership helped me feel like a valued member of the team from day one.
Dr. Gianakos is an exceptional surgeon, and those fortunate enough to work with her quickly come to appreciate this. What sets her apart is her remarkable ability to share her passion, positive energy, and deep love for the practice of medicine. For her, being a doctor is inherently intertwined with being a teacher.
On a personal level, she serves as a mentor both inside and outside the hospital, driven by a profound desire to make a meaningful contribution to medicine and leave a lasting legacy. I am deeply inspired by her example and motivated to push myself further in the pursuit of something equally impactful in this field."
