Ankle Sprains

Ankle sprains are among the most common sports injuries, resulting from overstretching or tearing of the ankle ligaments, usually on the outer side of the joint.

Anterior Ankle Impingement
    • Pain and swelling around the ankle

    • Bruising and tenderness

    • Instability or difficulty bearing weight

  • Clinical exam and X-rays help assess ligament injury and exclude fractures. MRI may be used for severe or chronic cases.

  • Mild sprains are treated with rest, ice, compression, and elevation (RICE), followed by rehabilitation. Severe sprains or chronic instability may benefit from minimally invasive ligament reconstruction.

  • Most sprains heal within 2–6 weeks; surgical repair requires 3–4 months for full recovery.
