Concentrated Bone Marrow Aspirate (cBMA)
Concentrated bone marrow aspirate is a biologic therapy using stem and progenitor cells harvested from a patient’s bone marrow. These cells help repair damaged tendons, ligaments, and cartilage.
-
Osteochondral injuries of the ankle or foot
Tendon tears or chronic tendinopathy
Early arthritis or degenerative joint changes
-
Bone marrow is aspirated, usually from the iliac crest, and concentrated to isolate healing cells. The concentrate is then injected into the damaged area, often under imaging guidance.
-
Promotes tissue regeneration and repair
Minimally invasive alternative to surgery
Can reduce pain and improve function in chronic conditions
-
Mild soreness at the harvest or injection site is common. Functional improvements typically appear over 6–12 weeks, with continued tissue remodeling for several months.
