Peroneal Tendon Injuries

Peroneal tendon injuries involve inflammation, tearing, or subluxation of the tendons along the outer ankle, often caused by repetitive stress or ankle sprains.

Anterior Ankle Impingement
    • Pain and swelling along the outer ankle

    • Snapping sensation behind the fibula

    • Weakness with eversion movements

  • Ultrasound or MRI is used to visualize tendon damage or instability.

  • Initial management includes rest, bracing, and physical therapy. Surgical options include tendon repair, groove deepening, or stabilization, often performed using minimally invasive techniques.

  • Recovery varies from 3–6 months depending on injury severity and surgical intervention.
