Plantar Fasciitis
Plantar fasciitis is inflammation of the thick tissue band that supports the arch of the foot, leading to heel pain, especially with first steps in the morning.
-
Sharp heel pain with walking or standing
Morning pain that improves with activity
Tenderness along the plantar fascia
-
Diagnosis is based on clinical exam; imaging may be used to exclude other causes of heel pain.
-
Non-surgical treatments include stretching, orthotics, night splints, and physical therapy. Chronic cases may benefit from ultrasound-guided injections or minimally invasive release procedures.
-
Most patients improve within 6–12 weeks; surgical options are rarely necessary although in chronic cases, minimally techniques can be performed.
